A Living Archive is a website documenting the archive of ten years of feminist activities, started in 2010 by artist Melissa Gordon and still growing. The event is an invitation to enact archiving as a productive rather than accumulative practice and reflect on the role of archiving strategies in feminist practices today. The two-day sit-in is intended for sharing information and discussing the current conditions in feminism, through the lens of archival activity. How have the urgency for and conditions of archiving changed between now and then? What can be added to the archive, and to what ends can it be used in the future?
The program featured presentations by artists, curators, and cultural workers—many of them participants in the events that made up A Living Archive—who will relate to these questions from within their practices.
