The workshop-cum-study group offers in-depth access to the Kempens Informatieblad, a newspaper published by Jef Geys starting in 1971 as an alternative to the conventional artist catalogue. Throughout its almost fifty years of publication, the periodical acted as an information system directed by the artist, through which he organized the representation and mediation of his work and related activities. Geys was a raconteur, expanding and rewriting the information we thought we had gained about him with every issue. The event seeks to recount and annotate his stories and work via the newspaper. To this end, many of the over fifty issues will be made accessible for browsing and discussion and placed in relation to some of the works on display.
