SEMINAR
How exhibitions are constituted is formulated not only through what is visible but also through the various paratexts and processes—administrative, economic, political, social—that govern and condition both those involved and the institution itself. So, if art and architecture are mutually intertwined, while sharing publics, what can we learn from the resonances between exhibited works, their architectural setting, and the wider socio-political context? The seminar focuses on these causative relationships to explore the ideological and spatial strategies inscribed in the production and presentation of art. Together, we will think through the changing parameters of exhibition-making and consider how these inform our experience and shape discourse.

DIPLOMA EXHIBITION
The 2025 Master Fine Arts diploma exhibition unfolds as both an assembly of individual artistic inquiries and a collective engagement with the conditions of exhibition-making itself. Presenting the work of thirty graduates, it foregrounds not only the multiplicity of their practices but also the educational structures—critiques, studio work, seminars, readings, and so on—that engendered the works on display. Set within the institutional and architectural context of the ZHdK’s Toni-Areal, the exhibition also reflects the entangled paratextual systems—administrative, economic, political, social—that inform art education and production today. Against this backdrop, the show’s title, All Dimensions, resists the neatness of a unifying theme but instead puts forward a proposition: that art is never just one thing, and exhibitions never offer only one reading. It’s about all dimensions.
